The Merriam Park Project

This Merriam Park remodel was as much about honoring the past as it was about building for the future. Originally constructed in 1910, this four-story St. Paul home carried more than a century of character worth preserving — and a layout that no longer served the family living in it. Lucas Builders worked through all four stories of the home, delivering six newly renovated spaces including four bathrooms and a second level bonus room that became the centerpiece of the project. The scope was significant. The approach was careful.

The bonus room tells the story of the whole project. Previously used as a laundry and playroom, the space was completely reimagined — the home's ventilation system reworked from the ground up, laundry facilities relocated, walls and a bathroom repositioned to create a functional office and improve how the family moves through the second level entirely. What was once underutilized is now a gathering space with built in amenities that the whole family can enjoy, while the natural charm of a home built in another era remains completely intact.
